Has anyone ever met anyone exactly like themselves? The answer is no one has and though some of us are identical twins or have a doppelganger across town it doesn’t mean we experience things the same way! This applies to the physical, emotional, and mental side of things when it comes to dieting. This is the same reason why several different kinds of diets exist. The Paleo Autoimmune Protocol diet (AIP) and the Specific Carbohydrate Diet (SCD) cater to very specific needs pertaining to autoimmune diseases. The Paleo and Keto diets may help improve general discomforts but certainly improve our health if we follow them correctly. Regardless of our object in our diet we need to carefully research what we must do individually and experiment/test to determine the best course of action.
Too many of us make the silly mistake to self-diagnoses based only on our symptoms. We may know someone else that has a similar disease or condition and has remedied it in a certain way…these comparisons may point us in the right direction but we mustn’t assume it is the right course for us. The same goes for the common mistake of doing an internet search, reading a little, and voila we know exactly what we must do! No! We must experiment with our diet or in the case of those on the AIP and SCD diet our practitioners will need to conduct medical tests to appropriately diagnose our disease.
In Tip 8 we encouraged finding a healthcare professional who can work with us to achieve our goals. A word of warning in this regard, we need to be weary of those practitioners who would like to charge us loads of money for “fix-all” cures. Their proposals attempt to make us believe that the path of least resistance is the best path…has this ever been true with health?! Particularly those who are investigating or living the AIP and SCD diets likely have a long road ahead of them before they reach their goals so thoroughly researching their condition, diet, practitioners and any other question is critical. There are tons of swindlers looking for a quick buck…let’s not give them that satisfaction.
A good healthcare practitioner may (not always true) cost a pretty penny but if we’ve done our research it will be well worth it. Our Paleo Perfection grass-fed protein powder shake is no fix-all but it can act as a good companion throughout our journey to better health.
